What Is ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a widely used, evidence-based therapy for autism. It focuses on teaching communication, social interaction, and daily living skills through structured learning and reinforcement.

ABA is often an important part of a child’s overall support plan. Over time, however, some families notice that progress may slow or feel harder to maintain.

When Progress Feels Slower

Every child’s learning journey is unique. Even with well-structured ABA therapy, progress can sometimes feel uneven, slower than expected, or harder to sustain.

In these moments, families often wonder whether something beyond the therapy itself may be affecting learning, such as attention, regulation, or how the brain processes information.

This is where a brain-based approach like MeRT®, a personalized form of EEG-guided rTMS, may be explored as an additional layer of support.

How MeRT Supports Learning

MeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy) is a customized form of EEG-guided rTMS that uses detailed brainwave analysis to individualize treatment.

Rather than focusing on behavior, MeRT works at the neurological level — supporting brain communication, regulation, and flexibility that may make learning easier.

How MeRT works:

  • A non-invasive EEG identifies patterns of brain activity
  • We personalize treatment based on those findings
  • Gentle magnetic stimulation supports targeted brain areas

MeRT treatment is non-invasive, drug-free, and generally well-tolerated.

About MeRT Treatment

Why Combine ABA and MeRT?

ABA teaches skills through practice and reinforcement. MeRT supports the brain systems that help learning take place.

By addressing brain function directly, MeRT may help some children:

  • Stay more focused during sessions
  • Follow directions more easily
  • Retain what they’ve learned
  • Experience less frustration or overload

When used together, ABA and MeRT can create a more supportive learning environment without replacing existing therapies.

Real Stories from Families

He has always been a fast learner, but after treatment, he has been smashing all of his goals with his therapy.”

“We did six weeks of MeRT, and the last session finished last week. His therapist is shocked at how much he is talking now.”

“His speech therapist says she is seeing much more progress compared to before and behavior has gotten way better in school.”
